Today I turn 30!  People tell me it’s the perfect age.  Still young enough to look good.  But old enough to be confident in your own skin.

I’m going to choose to believe those people.  Mainly because I have no choice in the fact of getting older.  But also because I like to try and stay positive.

I wanted to share with you a few pieces of wisdom I have learned over my 30 years of life.

Buckle up and take note. But you’ll probably still make the mistakes I did, and learn from them for yourself.  That’s ok too.

  • It is ok to fail.  As long as you learn from it.  I have tried 7 different businesses, 6 of them failed.  Every single failure put me on the path I am on now, and I wouldn’t change it for the world.

  • You don’t have to have all the answers. People relate more to you if you don’t anyway.  And if you choose to live life in a constant state of curiosity (instead of being a know-it-all), life is so much more fun.  {I may just be saying this because in my 5-year relationship with my *know-it-all*fiancé, I have been right a mere 16 times.  Yes, we are counting.  I was hoping to hit 20 times being right before I hit 30… oh well, see point above}

  • Sometimes things don’t work out how you want them to.  That’s ok, because there is a better plan for you.  Keeping this in mind always helps when things go south.  Just know you are right where you need to be.  Everything happens for a reason.

  • Sometimes you will feel poo, even when you have absolutely no reason to feel poo.  I am getting married in 6 months, my biz is in a great place, I have amazing family, friends and support system, I have never lost anyone close to me, I have my health.  But I still get down sometimes.  It’s all part of the rollercoaster that is life.  Everything is relative.  Ride the ups + downs.

  • Life is all about balance.  My bestie wished me happy birthday this morning.  Her message was:

“You’re always having fun flipping from productive, successful business owner mode by day to having an all vino nighter with friends…. somehow I think this will continue for years to come.”

I like to work really hard, I also happen to love a vino or two. (just ask all my friends who tag me in wine meme’s on facebook…)

  • You can’t make your choices from a place of fear.  My biz coach recently alerted me I was doing just this.  Yep, I only learnt this one week before turning 30.  Always something to learn!

  • People are the most important thing in your life.  You might get side tracked and think your business is more important.  It’s not.  Turning 30 and being surrounded by all the special people in my life has honestly been one of the most heart-warming + humbling experiences.

Enough of the mushy stuff.  Time to go drink wine with friends!
