Yesterday I lost my mojo, but today I got it back 10X

Have you ever noticed that? After a low comes a high? Weird isn’t it.

I know this yoyo effect so well now, since being self-employed and working from home for the past 9 months. One of the best perks of working for yourself is undoubtedly being able to have a nap at 2pm on a Monday cos you’re just not feelin it.

I am so familiar with it now that if I sit at my desk and it doesn’t come flowing, I don’t force it. Because trying to do something when I have low mojo will take me twice as long, versus when I am “in flow.”

Yesterday I stared at my screen, slouched over, trying to draw Inspo from my vision board to do something, ANYTHING, but it just wasn’t coming to me. Not even after 2 coffees 😴

But TODAY, as I was feeding my dog, the idea for this blog post popped into my head, and I had barely scraped his food into his bowl before I was up at my desk typing these words.  I didn’t even make him sit first 🤪 #dogownerfail

And do you know how long it took me to whip this blog out?

14 minutes… Not even kidding.

That is the difference of working in flow vs working with low mojo.

I must admit it doesn’t often happen that I lose my mojo anymore, I think I can count on one hand the times I have actually had a midday couch nap.

I don’t believe it is possible to be in flow 100% of the time – and that’s completely ok, because like I said, after a low comes a high, and the low makes the high that much sweeter.

But I wanted to share some of the things that maximise my state of flow so I can be the best biz owner I possibly can, maybe they will work for you too.

  • Consuming + learning: I have developed an insatiable appetite for business & personal development materials. I can’t drive anywhere without first putting on a podcast (EOFire and Foundr are my faves); I can’t cook dinner without pressing play on a webinar or online training (loving Cat Howell’s FB ad & mindset videos atm – so REAL!); I can’t go to bed without reading a chapter of my book first (currently reading Emma Isaacs, Winging It.)  Every time I read/listen/watch a piece of content, I feel that little bit wiser, and that little bit more confident.  It’s the small things you do daily that add up to make the biggest difference!

  • Meditation + Visualisation: I have been getting super woo woo lately #sorrynotsorry After more than a year, FINALLY my nightly meditation practise has progressed to the point where I can get into a zen state pretty quickly. I have stepped it up, and now have started incorporating some isochronic tones into my visualisation practise (google it!), where I listen to the tones and visualise in perfect detail what I want my future to look like. Let’s just say there is a river view involved 😉

  • Social Media: If I am feeling low in energy, I do not dare open social media. It is a playground for comparisonitis to fester, and will only feed my negative nancy mindset. Know your triggers, and have the strength to avoid them when you need to.

  • Exercise + Food: Last week (the week before I lost my mojo) I did not go on my normal morning run because of the rain, and come to think of it, probably only a few serves of veggies made it down the hatch. Damn winter appetite! I don’t believe it was a coincidence I lost my mojo the week after.  I have since said F it to the rain and gone on my run anyway, and stocked up my fridge with veggies so I can make my morning green smoothies again.

I am so pumped to have my mojo back (..just in time to host our member event this Sunday!!)

What regular practises do you have that keep your energy levels up? I’d love to know! Comment below or flick me an email!
